Description

Het Anker
Het Anker continuously strives for an authentic and unique taste experience and through its age-old history it developed into an internationally noted brewery. We mainly thank that success to our authenticity. To this day we use traditional recipes as the foundation of our brewing process and a variety of hops and herbs give our beers that characteristic taste and aroma.
Stop by, and discover how we – as one of the oldest breweries in Belgium (1471) – preserved the authenticity of far-off days: the inner courtyard complete with cobblestones, a tympanum in grey stone with the historic date of 1625 and the three copper kettles in the brew room from right after World War II. Since the 90’s the brewery has undergone a complete overhaul. Charles Leclef (the fifth generation of the brewer family who purchased the brewery in 1873) set the restoration of the old buildings in motion and modernised the refrigeration, fermentation and lagering installations. A large amount of our beer production is destined for export: Japan, Mexico, United States, Denmark, Italy, France, The Netherlands, Great-Britain, Scandinavia, Australia, Canada, Poland… A total of 25 countries are keen on our beers.
