Southern Vine Sour

New Belgium Brewing Co

American Wild Ale | 8.4% ABV

Description

An ode to the Southern states, featuring Scuppernong grapes, the official state fruit of North Carolina.

As the state fruit of North Carolina, Scuppernong was the perfect candidate to try refermenting with our house sour culture in a single, French oak foeder. Scuppernong is a huge, white grape that’s bittersweet and well-known throughout the south. In addition, we added wild-harvested Sumac for added complexity, texture and a slight red hue. The beer is sweet, juicy, white wine-like, fruit-forward, tart and slightly viscous from the sumac. This thing is impossible to hate.
