Vanilla Caramel Dbl. Cream

Horse & Dragon

Cream Ale | 8.5% ABV

Description

Despite a good 300 plus days of sun in our Centennial State, winter does at some point find us
in Colorado. With its arrival we tend to reach for our long johns and this season’s selection of winter
ales. At Horse & Dragon our master brewer conjured up the Vanilla Caramel Double Cream Ale taking
the challenge to make a big winter ale that wasn’t a thick stout (though that stout is on the way also!).

A wonderful winter warmer, this creamy, sweet ale will bring to mind warm blankets, fireside
conversations, and all the best holiday cookies. It is available on both CO2 and nitrogen, and with
either gas it pours with a delicious, creamy head that is redolent with the vanilla caramel aroma that
gives the beer its name. Caramel continues in the taste, and the beer finishes with a bit of the
warning that it is not an ale to be taken lightly (it’s >8.0% ABV).

Tasting Notes
Appearance: Chestnut red complexion with an off white tightly laced head.
Aroma: Calming sweet vanilla partnered with honey – caramel notes.
Flavor: Luxurious tawny vanilla flavors settle to a soft, melt-in your-mouth brown sugar nuance.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied and warming vanilla and caramel coat the tongue and remain as a slight stickiness.
Finish: Fulfilling but not overly cloying, light alcohol warming is present with every sip.

Suggested Food Pairings
Dessert, Dessert, Dessert…
The warm and filling flavors present in the Vanilla
Caramel Double Cream Ale provide for a dish in
itself. Some holiday dessert pairings would include:
pecan pie, rich toffee, cakes, white chocolate
dipped pretzels, and true southern pralines.
