Description

AltarofSacrificeD sseldorfAltbier
This is a highly traditional style of beer from Düsseldorf, Germany. “Alt” is a reference to “old” style
brewing using top-fermenting yeast strains that pre-date the isolation of bottom-fermenting strains used in
today’s lagers. Despite predating the lager yeasts, an alt beer’s fermenting process echoes many of those of of
lager beers. According to the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines (http://www.bjcp.org/ 2008styles/style07.php#1c),
the best examples of this style can be found in brewpubs in the Altstadt (“old town”) section of Düsseldorf.
With Oktoberfest around the corner this is bringing Germany straight to our palates. The bright orange-bronze color and amazing clarity of this German ale, topped with a slightly off-white creamy head, shows us we are in for a treat. Slight hop notes blend with the clean malty notes as well as that characteristic German aroma that invites us in for a taste. Biscuity malt flavor is delivered in a clean, crisp package, combined with a bit of hop character and full, nutty, dry finish. Time as been taken to make this a very drinkable yet flavorful representation of the great beers Germany has delivered to the world. Genießen Sie das Bier!
